Obituary of Wilbert Charles "Rodger" Abbott

ABBOTT: Wilbert Charles “Rodger” Passed away peacefully on Saturday June 27, 2015 at his family home and farm in his 75th year, with his partner of 29 years and his children by his side. Rodger was born August 22, 1940 to Wilbert “Bunny” Abbott and Lillian Abbott (Avery). He worked for many years in the carpentry trade in which his three sons have followed in his footsteps. Rodger’s spare time was devoted to the family farm where his children and grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed their family unity. Loved and missed by his partner Myrna Burns and his children Charles Abbott (Lisa), Susan McMullen (Sandy), Blair Abbott (Brenda) and Steven Abbott (Cherri). Remembered by his nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Survived by his sisters Shirley Polson and Marilyn Elliott (Orville) and brother Fred Abbott (Marie) and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL on Tuesday June 30, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment Lakefield Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Heritage Room of the funeral home. Special thanks to the PRHC Palliative Care Unit and Hospice for all of their wonderful support. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice – Peterborough, Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation as expressions of sympathy.
