Obituary of Sarah Hay Scanlan

SCANLAN: Sarah Hay (nee Blair) 1919 – 2015 Our Mother passed away peacefully on Thursday November 19, 2015 at Pinecrest Nursing Home in Bobcaygeon in her 97th year. She was predeceased by her first husband, Dennis Vale, a British soldier who died in Tunisia in WWII and her Canadian husband Eric J. Scanlan who died in 1999 as well as her twin sister Anne (Rumbelow) Burrows, her brothers John, Sam and Bill Blair. Uncle Bill died the same day (November 19, 2015) in Hindhead, England. Also predeceased by her sons, Richard and Ian Scanlan. She leaves behind her children, Jane Gugliotta, Eric S. Scanlan, Gail Motzok (Alex) and Kevin Scanlan (Jennifer). Also her grandchildren Bill Ross, Henri Canino, Jason Ross, Sean Scanlan (Debra): her great grandchildren, Siobhan Baraniuk, Cian Poore, McKenzie Scanlan, Melissa Scanlan, Sean Scanlan, Jackson Scanlan and her great, great granddaughter, Charlie Rose and nieces and nephews worldwide. We send our love and condolences to Aunt Marjorie and all of Uncle Bill’s family in England. They are at peace. A heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Pinecrest for your dedicated care of Mom. You treated her like family. A funeral service will be held at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 2570 Danforth Avenue, Toronto on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Kawartha Land Trust – Boyd Island Project as expressions of sympathy.
