Beloved brother of Bill (Sandra) of Oakville. Always loved and remembered by his nephews Gordon (Stephanie Labbé), David (Allison), and Michael (Janet). Amazed and amused by his great nieces and nephews Matthew, Andrew, Jennifer, Samantha, Tiffany, and Scott. A “Gathering of Local Friends” will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL on Saturday August 13, 2016 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. Memories shared at 1:00 PM. As well, there will be a Celebration of Peter’s Life in Toronto in September. A time and place to be determined. Peter was born and educated in London, Ontario and at Trinity College School, Port Hope. He held management positions with various trust and investments companies in Toronto, London, and Chatham, and then became a banker in Bermuda. This period was a very fulfilling time for Peter. He became an enthusiastic scuba diver, cyclist and sailor. His scuba colleagues became life long friends, with regular reunions held in any of three countries. He retired to his self designed home in Woodview (Stoney Lake) where he honed his skills as a wood carver and furniture builder. His creations are exquisite. Peter micro-managed the Community Road Association. He strolled ‘The Road’ everyday with his adored canine companion “Pieja” and regular road pals. They would hold endless discussions on nature, politics, the road care and maintenance, new cottages being built and settled all International issues, over and over again. Peter loved the four seasons and the opportunities to observe native animals, birds and water fowl in their seasonal habitats. Always a gentleman with a quiet subtle sense of humor, he will be missed by many friends and family. Our family wishes to thank Dr. Natalie Whiting and the dedicated nursing and support personnel on the 3rd floor at The Royal Gardens for their compassionate care. As expression of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Lakefield Village Animal Hospital or The P.R.H.C. Palliative Care Unit. Friends may send condolences or make donations by contacting the funeral home at 705-652-3355 or www.hendrenfuneralhome.com.
