Anne McCleary (Stinson) remembers Sylvia from public school at SS # 6, Dummer Township. She was always caring, kind and helpful to everyone, and carried those wonderful qualities throughout her life It was always great meeting her in later years and getting caught up on family. She certainly made a difference and will be dearly missed.
I was very sorry to see that Sylvia had passed away. I have many fond memories of working with her at Irwin Inn many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I have many fond memories of Mrs Althouse--Sylvia--over the the past decades--beginning when I was in High School (NDHS) and whenever I saw Sylvia she was always smiling and always very friendly.
In more recent times, it was obvious that she really hadn't changed very much--she still smiled easily and remained very pleasant. Many a time I would see Sylvia with Ruth Burtt picking up some groceries when I was doing the same with my Mom.
She will be missed.
