Both my children enjoyed this wonderful teacher at Dunsford school. She never forgot to ask me how the kids were once they became older. Saw her many times at the Bobcaygeon fair and the curling club. Going to miss her. My mom also knew her well working at the fair. The Cook & Betty & Earl Hunter families

Im just hearing of her passing from a Cinnamon bun recipe posted to Facebook! Sad to have missed the service. She was my kindergarten teacher also! And a neighbour to my grandparents. I have fond memories including being gifted one of her paintings my parents got for me when I bought my house, and taking her to a dance a few years back - she danced the night away. She asked about other children she remembered from my specific class which astounded me and turns out she kept some memories of her students - that was when she invited me to her home at Sherwood for lunch. Tanya, I am just learning of Catherine's passing today so I, too, missed her celebration of life sadly. Catherine often mentioned your name to me. She was very fond of you and really appreciated when you would pick her up and take her somewhere...like to the Rye Street Band dance. What a fun night that was! Yes, she danced the night away and led us in an Orf instrument band as though we were in her Kindergarten Class. She was an amazing teacher, friend, mother, and grandmother. Blessings!

I am saddened to hear just now of Catherine's passing. She was my Grade 8 teacher and inspired me to be a teacher, to travel and be the best I could be. What an influence on my life and many others! My visits and student gatherings with her were always filled with delicious refreshments and caring thoughts. I will miss her a lot and hang on to the many memories. My condolences to all family and friends.

Catherine was a delight to visit. Always cheerful and upbeat. We shared many memories and laughs. Her son and his lovely family was the joy of her life. Her eyes would sparkle and her smile wide. She has inspired and impacked many lives and will be missed by all who knew here.

Mrs Junkin was my kindergarten teacher in the mid 1970s. There must have been a boom of 1971 babies as Mrs Junkin was tasked with teaching a third class of kindergarten students .. in what had been the teacher's lounge! The converted classroom did not deter her in any way as I still have the very professional work sheets she prepared for us that year which focused on patterning, scissor work and fine motor skills. I also recall Mrs Junkin teaching us all how to cut an apple with a paring knife - I still use her technique! Like other students who stayed in the area, Mrs. Junkin became a fixture in my everyday life, always saying hello and sharing that wonderful smile that was her trademark. I was pleased to become a "Mrs Junkin" myself through marriage and was gifted with one of her beautiful painted pieces of furniture. My condolences to Mark and her extended family. Thank you for sharing such a treasure with so many of us.

Catherine was one of my favourite teachers. I had the pleasure of having her as a teacher in kindergarten and grade two back in the mid 80s. I would occasionally run into her out walking in Bobcaygeon and she always went out of her way to say hello. It’s very sad to hear the news. Condolences to all her family and friends.
