I met Derek while playing soccer with his son Steve, i believe 45 ish years ago. He was often at the games and always complimentary of our efforts even when we sucked. Later he became our team sponsor with their ski and sports store. One year as assistant coach i believe, at Trent University in mid October finals of a tournament...the Father Phalen Cup, he went in net. Now we were all 24-26 year olds so that put him in early 50's but no fear he stood in there. Took a hard shot to the face I recall but stood his ground. His family and I have remained friends and although we dont see each other as much, the many memories are etched for eternity. My sincerest condolences to his entire family. Chris
