It is with deep sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of a remarkable man, Peter Grant, after a brief illness with his devoted children at his side. He is survived by his wife of 40 years Janice, and his two children, June (Michael) and Sam.
Peter was born in Bobcaygeon, the youngest child of John and Eva Grant. He lived life with joy, was always ready for an adventure, and sought out to learn something new everyday.
Peter found peace and happiness in woodworking, history, and the outdoors - especially fishing. Through his animated story telling, he had the ability to have the listener experience the thrill of the fight when having a picture or mount worthy fish on the line, as if the listener was the one reeling it in. His calm spirit and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures always brought joy to everyone around him. You could always find him with a bright smile and ready with a joke, a story, or a prank, sealed with a wink.
He was a hardworking man whose life was guided by a deep commitment to doing things the right way. He believed in perseverance, never giving up no matter the challenge, and faced even the most difficult moments with quiet strength and a warm smile. Exceptionally organized and thoughtful in all he did, he brought structure, care, and integrity into his work, hobbies, and his relationships. His values were not only words he lived by, but lessons he passed on to those around him, leaving a lasting legacy of dedication, resilience, and character.
Above all, he was a beloved family man. His most important and treasured role was being a father and loving his children, June and Sam, so deeply. No matter the sacrifice, he always made sure his kids had fun, were loved, supported, and were always laughing.
His sparkling smile, calm demeanor, and his endless stories will be forever missed.
Thank you to all the medical professionals for their excellent care, especially in the days leading up to his passing.
