I just learned yesterday of Dave's passing. I was so shocked and saddened to hear of his unexpected and too early death. Dave would phone me or email me every once in a while, and I had hoped to hear that he had an Educational assignment in the Windsor area so we could get together. Now I understand. I know that grieving is a process that takes much time and has many stages, but please know that my heartfelt sympathy is with you all. Dave was truly a great friend, and devoted his all to his family, work, and friends. I will never forget his laugh, his sense of humour, his optimism, his ability to feel deeply for others and to help in any way that he could--and that he worked too hard--leaving too little time for rest. I knew him as a CUPE staff rep.from the time he first moved to Essex County, and am trying to come to grips with the fact of my loss of a friend, and I will always miss my contacts with my dear friend, Dave.

On behalf of CUPE 4168, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to Dave's family and friends and co-workers. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult journey. I was so sorry to hear about David. Linda, you really don't know me but David and I grew up together in Saint John. We went to the Wesleyan Church together and I spent alot of time at his house with him and his mom and dad. His parents and my parents were best friends and did alot of things together. We really were like a family to each other. We had alot of great times together. Please know that he is with God now and you will see him again. With sincere sympathy to you and all of David's family. God Bless You!!! Chrissy and Jerry Arrowsmith

It was with great sadness that I received the news about David. We first met I think when I was in Grade 2 and moved back to Saint John. Many days were spent in the group at the playground, going skating or down to the ball diamond on Courtney Ave. or in the large group trick or treating around East Saint John. He was never ever without a smile. Then when I moved to Ontario we were able to reconnect through the school board and Cupe. He was always so willing to help every one. My prayers to all the family. I just wanted to let you know how many lives he touched even so many years ago.

To the Saunders clan - what wonderful memories I have of spending time at your home on Edith Ave. One is of David and wondering if there would be more babies to follow. It was great having you all in my life while growing up. So sorry for your loss. Love Linda
