Donna, Alice, Saga, and family,
My deepest condolences to you all. I am grateful that I met your father and was able to absorb some of his teachings. I was glad to meet Sarah and Keesic and the rest of the family at the fire and ceremony. I can see what an influence your father had on shaping you all. Safe travels to your father. Miigwech.

Heartfelt condolences to Gidigaa Migizi's family, the Curve Lake community and all those whose lives he impacted.
He was my Chum, mentor, and colleague. He was a good friend to my husband; they shared the same periteneal dialysis nurse. Doug would come and visit us in our home. One of my fondest memories are those visits. Doug and Stewart would share stories and laughs in the language and I would spoil them with their favorite foods so they would continue. Doug supported Stewart in his decision to discontinue dialysis, he was here many times singing and talking with him. And of course Gidigaa Migizi was here soon after Stewart began his journey home supporting us in ceremony. There were many memories of drives, teasing and teachings.
I will continue to honor him in my work and teaching at Trent. I will remember him when ricing, and tapping the maples.
Doug embodied love and kindness, and I will miss him very much.

Deepest condolences to Saga and the whole family, from Saga's colleagues at Legal Aid Ontario. What an extraordinary life Mr. Williams led. While we were not lucky enough to know him, it is clear that his legacy lives on through Saga and her work, as well through all those whose lives he touched and whose work he inspired.

Curve Lake lost a true Elder today as Gidigaa Migizi (Spotted Eagle) began his journey home through that Western doorway. He was a friend to many and a teacher to all, including myself. I had spoken to Doug just a short while ago and had promised to see him soon....to come back home to visit....guess I'm still 'in trouble' with Doug (he always said I was in trouble with him lol)....but I hope that I will be heading home soon to pay my respects. Baamaapii....Gigawabamin Nagutch Doug....
My condolences to his family and many friends....especially the Curve Lake FN that you served so well....
Travel well on your next journey Doug....you are missed but will never be forgotten.....nor will your teachings....your gentle ways and your humor
Above is a painting I gifted to Doug....to honour him....

Gitigaa Migizi was a huge and gentle influence, starting when I became a student at Trent over 10 years ago. His humour, generous teachings. and contributions to the research I was engaged with changed my life. I was humbled by his encouragement and his voice and his words are forever with me. Gchi Miigwech for the enormous gifts he has given to so many and heartfelt condolences to his family.
