Obituary of Emily Edith Pettypiece
PETTYPIECE: Emily Edith
Emily passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side on Wednesday, September 21st at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Beloved wife of Donald Pettypiece for 57 years and loving mother to Heather Pettypiece and Lynn Pettypiece-Hebb (Shawn). Dear sister to Jo Anne Bugler (Paul) and Brent Smith (Cindy), sister-in-law to Diane Jensen (Bill) and Auntie Em to her wonderful nieces & nephews. In her 80 years Emily lived an incredibly full life. It was one rich with family gatherings and adventures, world travels with her husband, fulfilling work as a nurse with the VON, and volunteering with the UCW, Red Cross and Peterborough Field Naturalists. Nothing gave Emily more joy than weekly family chats, singing in the church choir, and driving every back road she could find, with her trusty binoculars and camera by her side, in search of wildlife, especially her birds.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lakefield United Church on Monday October 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will commence at 12:30 PM. A reception to follow in the fellowship hall. The family thanks Dr. Morelli and the dedicated staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit, Ward D2, at PRHC for the incredible care and compassion that was given. In memory of Emily, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and to Lakefield United Church. Memorial donations may be made by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
