I am saddened to hear of Gwen’s passing. She was a lovely lady with a good sense of humour and a caring soul. My Mom lived across the hall from Gwen at Rubidge. Mom always referred to Gwen as her ‘best friend’ as they ate meals together and sometimes went on ‘wanders’ together! I found them one day on the ground floor by the library sitting and waiting for dinner….which was a few hours away. They always looked out for each other and were genuinely concerned when either of them were missing or sick. During COVID Mom invited Gwen to join us for a few of our porch visits….it was against policy but Mom insisted she was ‘family’. When Gwen left Rubidge for Norwood, Mom was quite devastated because she didn’t get to say goodbye to her. I told Mom when the weather was warmer we would go to Norwood to visit Gwen. Mom ended up at St Joseph’s at Fleming where she unfortunately had a fall which prevented her from visiting Gwen. Mom passed away Oct 25, 2023. I’m glad that they are finally able to visit with each other again.
With sincere condolences,
Tammy Delahey
