SMITH: Peter Michael

Passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto on Saturday March 1, 2025. Peter will be greatly missed by Rosemary, his daughters Amy (Shannon) and Caleigh (Ben), his mother Norma, sister Christine (Royce), niece Jessica (Gord), nephew Rob (Emily) great-nieces Evelyn and Olive, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and by many friends and family in Thailand. He will also be missed by his grand-dog Finnegan, who could always count on Peter for a treat (or two) and a bite (or three) of dinner. Peter is recently predeceased by his father Dennis. 

Peter was born in England and moved to Peterborough when he was two years old, spending the remainder of his years in the area. He spent many years volunteering for Rotary and Junior Achievement, and enjoyed spending time by the water, watching the boats go by (and probably having a nap). 

He will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, fondness for Thailand, British comedies, Seinfeld, always finding "the scenic route" and his love of a good peanut butter sandwich. Cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Peterborough Regional Health Centre and may be made by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
