TUCKER: Gerald David
Gerald David Tucker, known lovingly by friends and family as Gerry, was born October 5th, 1956. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 3rd at 11:40 AM in the Palliative Care Unit of Peterborough Regional Health Center, aged 68.
Gerry is survived by a loving step-daughter, Angela, three grandchildren, Brian, Summer, and Dakota, sisters Melvina (Winston) and Debbie, as well as his brothers Kevin (Gerta), Augustus (Lori), Cyril (Josephine), and Leonard (Jackie).
He is predeceased by his long-time partner Kathy, whom he lost only five weeks prior, his father James, mother Emma, and ten brothers and sisters.
Gerry was born in Newfoundland, however, after many years of travel and experience, chose to make Lakefield, Ontario his home with Kathy. He was a loved and respected member of the community, due to his efforts with the Lakefield Chiefs, and his business, Gerry's Bait & Tackle.
Despite his own health battles, Gerry remained a caretaker for his wife until she passed, and he carried her with him in his final days. Gerry's legacy will be shared through the memories people made with him. Whether it was a customer, or a fellow fan at the Lakefield rink, he treated everyone with the upmost kindness and generosity.
The family encourages those Gerry knew to look back fondly on their memories with him.
A small celebration of life was held in Lakefield, with family and invited close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or Lakefield Chiefs Hockey in Gerry's memory and may be made by contacting THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield or by calling 705-652-3355.
