Some of my fond memories with Mrs. Pulkki.
She always fed me well when visiting and taught me how to make the Finnish coffee bread pulla and how to braid it properly. I was also taught how to make pirakkas. (Loved the potato ones the best), buttermilk coffee cake (no eggs) and so moist and lastly how to make joulutorttu (Christmas stars made with prune filling). Lastly strawberry and rhubarb cold soup. I don’t know the proper name in Finnish but it was delicious to eat as is or poured over vanilla ice cream. Mrs. Pulkki loved to go blueberry picking, mushroom picking, and fishing was I think her favourite hobby. She always caught something and they were always a fair size.
She always made everyone feel comfortable and was very hospitable, caring and a great listener.
The scripture that comes to mind is, let all that you do be done in love.
May you rest in peace
Love Julie❤️
