Edwards, Mary Janet “Ducky”
Passed away peacefully at Hospice Peterborough on June 16th 2025, in her 70th year, surrounded by family. Beloved mother of Kathryn Leigh Edwards “Katie” and Alexandra Elizabeth Shea “Alex”. Mother-in-law to Matthew Trevor Shea “Matt / Moon Doggie”. Dear sister to Jean Marie “Jeannie” Buckles and sister-in-law to Jeff Buckles of Calgary. Loving aunt to Adam (Lisa) and Aaron (Michelle) Buckles of Calgary. Adoring grandmother to Jack William Shea, Austin John Shea, Gemma Ann Shea, Levi Thomas Samuel Yamchuk, and Vera Alexandra Yamchuck. She will also be missed by her dearest friend John Byrne and her beloved companion kitty Alaska. She is predeceased by her brothers William Peter and Ian Alexander Simpson as well parents John Peter and Mary Doris Simpson.
Ducky was known to be thoughtful, sweet and gentle to everyone. She was a very special mom, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
The family members wish to thank all caregivers for their excellent care and continued support throughout her journey.
A memorial service will be held on Friday June 20th 2025 at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 QUEEN STREET, at 1:00 PM with reception to follow the service in the Heritage Room of the funeral home.
