Obituary of Frederick George Stevenson Ware
WARE, Frederick George Stevenson “Steve”
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Frederick George Stevenson “Steve” Ware on June 22, 2025. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, and in the compassionate care of the wonderful staff at Pleasant Meadow in Norwood.
Beloved husband of the late Shirley (née Warriner). Dear father of Paula (Steve) Lush, Amy (Mark) Irvine, and Thomas (Roberta Jeffrey) Ware. Proud grandfather of Craig (Amanda), and Sandy (Alyssa) Lush, Carlyn and Aili Hollingsworth, Cameron Irvine, Zoë and Johnathan Ware. Predeceased by parents John and Frances Ware. Dearly missed by brothers Barry (Leny), Robert “Bob” (Shirley), and Brian (Donna) Ware, as well as the Warriner family.
Steve’s lifelong passion for the water began at the family cottage on Williams Point Road, where he spent a great deal of his life. His love for boating led him to hydroplane racing in the early 1950s, a pursuit he embraced with fervor. He was a dedicated member of the Canadian Boating Federation, serving in numerous roles, including Commodore. A fierce and respected competitor, his accomplishments were recently recognized by his induction into the Canadian Boating Ferderation’s Hall of Fame.
Beyond his love for the water, our Dad had a successful and fulfilling career in the computer industry. He was passionate about solving complex problems. He modelled the importance for curiosity and perseverance which he brought to all aspects of his life.
Sharing their love for the water, Dad and Mom realized their dream living aboard "Lady Galadriel", visiting many ports on the Eastern Seaboard. We are grateful to the community at PCYC for years of camaraderie and friendship.
Steve will be deeply missed by his family, and many friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025 (location TBA). To honor Dad, please consider making a donation to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre Foundation, or go for a bike ride, visit the lock masters along the Trent Severn Waterway, and have a listen to CCR’s Greatest Hits.
