Obituary of Betty-Lou Jacobs
JACOBS: Betty Lucille “Betty Lou”
Long time Curve Lake member, Betty Lou Jacobs (nee Knott), in her 92nd year, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 8, 2025. Betty Lou worked at Whetung’s Craft Shop for more than 60 years. Recognized as exceptionally talented, Betty Lou was commissioned to make a traditional native dress for Lady Louise and presented it to Prince Edward during a visit to Peterborough. She loved traveling and talking to people wherever she visited. She also loved the old-time classic country music, especially the music of George Jones. Betty Lou was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan, but her favorite teams were any teams on which her children or grandchildren played.
Betty Lou’s greatest love in life was her family and Curve Lake community. Betty Lou is loved and missed by her children: Vance Jacobs (Arlene), Kirk Jacobs (the late Catherine), Dean Jacobs (Darlene), Alan Fawn (Marie), Alvin Jacobs (Rowena), Kim Lanigan (Leigh), Wendy Irons (Fred), and daughter-in-law Deanna Jacobs. Loved by her 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also loved and missed by her brother Keith Knott (the late Bubbles), sister-in-law Hattie Knott, and dear friends Ila Knott and Violet Taylor. She is predeceased by her husband (Mervin), son (Tommy), parents (Darcy and Helen), sisters Irene (George), Olga (Sam), Beatrice, Edna (John), Patsy (Levi), and brothers Clifford (Greta), Vernon “Bunk” (Emma), Earl, and Garrett “Mike”.
Thanks to Dr. Mallory, the PSWs of Central East Home and Community Care Supportive Services, and special thanks to RN Wes Coppaway.
