HARDING: Alan
Passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at Ross Memorial Hospital on July 8, 2025. Alan Douglas Harding of Bobcaygeon, in his 92nd year. Alan was born on October 24, 1933 to his parents, the late Cyril and Hazel Harding (née Churchward).
Beloved husband of 70 years to the late Donalda “Donnie” Harding (née Snider). Loving father to Alan Harding Jr. and Joanne Harding, both of Bobcaygeon. Loving papa to Kylie Kearns-Harding and Brooklyn Kearns-Harding. Alan is survived by his brothers Brian Harding (Lynne), Keith Harding (Lee), brother-in-law Ken Snider (Wendy) and sister-in-law Barb Snider. Alan is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, 2 great nieces as well as Donnie’s’ cousins, Sandy, Paul, Gary and Dennis. Alan is predeceased by his in-laws Ted and Edie Snider and brother-in-law Edgar “Eddy” Snider. Alan was a devoted friend of Louis and Irene Stark and Bill and Ann Downie.
Alan started out working at the Bank of Nova Scotia Industrial Development Bank, then he worked for the Ministry of Correctional Services, where he served as Director of Internal Audit Services. Alan then moved to the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation, where he retired at age 60.
For 38 years, Alan was a proud member of the Pipes and Drums of the 48th Highlanders of Canada. For 14 years, Alan was also a proud member of the Pipes and Drums of Lindsay, where for 10 of those years, he served as Pipe Major.
Alan was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Caledonia (Toronto) and until now, a member of the Verulam lodge 268 of Bobcaygeon, where he was presented with his 50-year pin.
Alan was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 239 in Bobcaygeon, where he recently received his 35-year pin.
Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES-MONK CHAPEL, 6 Helen Street Bobcaygeon, on Thursday July 24, from 6:00PM-8:00PM. A memorial service will take place in the funeral home on Friday July 25, at 11:00AM. A reception will follow the service. A private family interment will take place.
