In Loving Memory of Walter John Cummings
With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Walter John Cummings, who departed his life peacefully on August 22, 2025, at the Peterborough Regional Health Center. He was a devoted father, grandfather and a loyal friend whose quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Born to Fred and Gertrude Cummings, Walter was raised in the close-knit community of Killoween, NB, where he learned the values of hard work, kindness, and humility that would guide him throughout his life.
Walter is survived by his children Denise (Danny) Breau, Fred (Jill) Cummings, and John (Michelle) Cummings.
He will be missed by his grandchildren, Laura (Tim) Matheson, Nathan (Adrianna) Breau, Isaac (Jana) Breau, Scott Cummings, Joel (Maaike) Cummings, Ian (Kate) Cummings, and Ryan (Deanna) Cummings. His great-grandchildren, Wyatt Breau, Bertie Breau and baby Cummings on the way.
Walter is also survived by his sisters, Theresa Smith, Evelyn Adams, Mary Parkes, Helen Guest, and Gerry Cummings and his brothers Jimmy Cummings and Cecil Cummings and his in-laws, including Anne. He will also fondly be remembered by his many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Eugene and his nephew William Guest.
A private funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours in Ennismore Ont.
Walter will be laid to rest at a later date at the Johnville cemetery in New Brunswick, returning to the community that shaped his earliest years.
