Obituary of Barbara Jean Bell
Barbara Jean Turney Bell (née Graham)
Of Peterborough Ontario, passed away peacefully on November 7th, 2025, surrounded by her family. Barbara’s kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Cherished mother of Cyndy Manol (Steve), John Turney (Wendy), Bill Turney (Nicole), and Greg Turney (Jennifer). Loving grandmother to Kyle, Abby, Jeff, Greg, Christopher, Daniel, Claire, Graham, Grace, Elyse and Jake along with 7 beautiful great-grandchildren. Barbara was predeceased by her husband’s Arthur Turney (1982) and Lloyd Bell (2022), sister Ruth Stock and her parents Leona and George Graham. She is survived by her brother John Graham of Ottawa.
Barbara trained and worked as a nurse before beginning her family, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to raising her children and creating a warm, loving home. She worked alongside her beloved husband, Arthur, at the family auto shop in an administrative role.
For 65 years she was a proud and active member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, cherishing her lifelong friendships and community service that were such an important part of her life. As a lifelong member of the United Church,Barbara’s faith guided her with grace and kindness. She found her greatest joy in time spent with family, especially during countless summers at the family cottage where laughter, love, and memories filled each day.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Barbara will be held on Sunday, November 30th at The Hendren Funeral Homes – Lakefield Chapel, 66 Queen St, Lakefield at 1:00pm. With visitation to commence one hour prior. A reception will follow the memorial service.
Cremation has taken place with inurnment at a later date at Highland Park Cemetery, Peterborough.
