Barbara Jane Reid ‘Nee shaker’

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barb Reid on November 29th, 2025, peacefully surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband John, sons, Trevor and Andrew and sisters, Catherine McKernan (Owen, Kat) and Mary Ellen Shaker.

Barb was a devoted wife and mother that was a source of joy for everyone around her. She loved spending time at her lakeside home outside Bobcaygeon with family and friends. A passionate gardener and avid painter, she loved to put her unique flare into all she did, be it the friendly plant growing competition between neighbours, or the many preserves she made from her beloved vegetable garden. Every season with excitement and imagination, her home was transformed into a festive display, complete with elaborate and creative decorations. A bright light of her close-knit community, Barb will be sadly missed as her knowledge, experience and good humour would do so much to cheer those around her.

The family would like to thank Dr. Novitsky and the wonderful 14th floor staff of Princess Margaret Hospital, Dr. Sharif, Peterborough Regional Health Center and the supportive staff and Ross Memorial Hospital and all the wonderful continuing care staff who were exceptionally kind and caring. 

Per Barbs wishes cremation has taken place and with a memorial service at a later date.
