Obituary of James Richard Rutherford

RUTHERFORD, James Richard

Passed away at home on December 23, 2025 at the age of 78. James “Jim” Richard Rutherford of Norwood, formerly of Havelock. Beloved husband of Delores “Dee” Rutherford (née Clements). Dear father of Greg (Krista) and Julie Rutherford. Devoted Poppa to Ava and Mason Rutherford. Jim is predeceased by parents Fred and Ena Rutherford, sister Marilyn (d. Ron) McMillan and brother Ron Rutherford. Survived by his brothers Bob (Lenna) and Jerry (Carol) Rutherford, many nieces and nephews, close friends, and his loving dogs Kira, Henry and Otis. 

Jim worked at Unimin Canada for 42 years, filling many roles during his time at the mine, from labourer to truck driver. He raced horses and had a great love of animals, particularly his dogs. Jim loved a good joke, and always had a “Joke of the Day” ready to share with friends and loved ones. 

Visitation will be held at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES – NORWOOD CHAPEL, 36 Queen Street Norwood, on Sunday December 28, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 15 Flora Street Norwood, on Monday December 29, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
