Obituary of Bruce Taylor
TAYLOR, Frederick
Frederick Bruce Taylor, 86, of Whitby, passed away peacefully on December 24. Bruce was born on August 31, 1939, to Margaret and Fredrick Taylor in Toronto. He had two brothers (pre-deceased); Keith and David. He has one sister, Lorna Verhulst. Lorna is married to Dirk Verhust, Keith married Judy, and David married Carol. Bruce loved his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law as much as he loved his siblings.
He met his wife Gail and moved to Alliston in 1972 and was the father of Rob and Jamie Taylor. He taught and was a vice principal in schools in Simcoe County, including Fred C Cook in Bradford and the Tottenham Public School. After retirement he moved to Whitby. He loved his daughters-in-law Dana and Lisa and adored his three granddaughters Alice, Maggie and Samantha. He had special places in his heart for his nieces and nephews.
Bruce loved all sports, but especially hockey and especially the Maple Leafs. So, you know, if a Leaf is reading, go get ‘em. He enjoyed woodworking and the connection it brought him to his carpenter grandfather. His favourite place to be was the family cottage on Eels Lake where he and his family were among the first cottagers. He met and was friends with many people there and the surrounding community of Apsley.
Bruce liked a good laugh. If you want to laugh with him, read some Far Side and Argyle Sweater comics. If you can, do it with a pint of Ex and say g’day.
