Obituary of Brian Fairley Glassford

GLASSFORD: Brian Fairley

It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Brian on Christmas Eve, Wednesday December 24, 2025 at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, in the arms of his loving family. Best friend, soulmate and husband of 58 years to Tanya (Jessup).  Devoted and loving Dad to Susanne and Thomas (Dafne).  Cherished Grandpa to Prisila, Ema, and Aiden.  Dear brother to Anne Gill (the late Carl) and special brother-in-law to Kim (Bob) Ridpath and Ron Jessup.  Brian had a long career in mineral research at Lakefield Research in Lakefield and Santiago Chile.  Brian’s passions and hobbies were many but at the forefront was his love of steam trains and he was a master model railroader.  His joy of travel and adventure meant many trips but his favourite place was the cottage at Cross Lake.  Brian was a great cook, a creative fixer of all broken things, a curler, a British car enthusiast, a dedicated and compassionate friend, neighbour and amazing fun uncle to many.  He will certainly be remembered for his stoic perseverance and strength as well as his deep gratitude for all who aided him in the last 12 years with special thanks to Julie and Tina.  And let’s not forget that wicked sense of humour.  Brian’s life was a blessing. His memory will be treasured.  He is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.  Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Friday January 2, 2026 from 2:00 – 5:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held at Lakefield United Church, 47 Regent Street, Lakefield on Saturday January 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM.  Visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment Lakefield Cemetery. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church. Memorial donations may be made to Community Care, Lakefield or Lakefield United Church as expressions of sympathy and may be made by contacting the funeral home at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
