We were so saddened to hear of Jon`s passing. He was a wonderful man, and he loved to play Euchre at the Lakefield Golden Years Club. He was such a good player, I was always thrilled to have him as a partner. He had many friends at the club, and we were just one couple among many others who admired and liked to see both Nancy and Jon at the club. He will be sorely missed, Many condolences to Nancy and both of their families, from a couple of devoted fans, John and Debbie Parent. Rest in peace, dear Jon.

Jon and I worked together for over 20 years and I am very saddened to hear of his passing. He was an important member of our team. His in-depth construction knowledge made him a perfect mentor for people wanting to learn the business. He was the hardest working and most dedicated person I ever met. If something needed to be done, Jon was the one we all counted on—and he never let us down. His sacrifices for our company while working on remote job sites goes without saying. He enjoyed his work but it was all about family for Jon. Towards the end of his career and into retirement he got to spend a lot more well deserved time with the kids and grandkids. We stayed in touch throughout our retirement years catching up regularly on what was happening in our lives. He was more than just a colleague; he was a dear friend. The sudden loss of Jon's wife, Helen, took a huge toll on him. After re-connecting with Nancy, they built a wonderful retirement together. These were two people who really cared for each other and were always there for each other. We really enjoyed spending time with them whenever we could connect. My heart goes out to Nancy and his family during this difficult time. Jon was one of a kind, and his legacy of hard work and friendship will never be forgotten.

I had the privilege of working with Jon in the early 1980's as a Timekeeper on a PCL jobsite. Jon took me under his wing and mentored me in his raspy voice and strong, silent manner - with kindness, humour and a great deal of wisdom of the job and of life. He was an impressive man, a true gentleman, and he had the most beautiful penmanship. I will remember him with fondness. My condolences to all his family. Cindy Kennedy

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Nancy and to Jon’s family. I had the privilege of working with Jon at PCL. He took a young rookie under his wing and taught me everything about project accounting and district life. Most importantly he taught me about hard work, dedication and loyalty and having fun at the same time. After Jon retired we stayed in touch and remained friends. I loved getting together with Jon and Nancy for lunch or dinner when they were in Edmonton. We would spend the time talking and laughing and catching up on each other’s lives. Such special times . Rest in peace my friend knowing you lived a great life. You will be missed.

I always felt comfortable and warm when I saw Jon, I guess that is why I always hugged him when I saw him. You could just tell that he was a good man, and they made a great couple!
