Obituary of Ellen May Woolfrey
Ellen May Woolfrey (nee Evenden), 89, of Norwood passed away suddenly and peacefully at Mapleview Retirement Residence on January 22nd, 2026.
Ellen was born and raised in Weston, Ontario where she met and married her high school sweetheart. She was predeceased by Roy, her husband of 61 years and by her son Ron (Jackie). She is remembered lovingly by her children Steven, Heather (Jim), Bill (Cindy), and Janice (Clem) and her 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, with #7 on the way.
Ellen worked for many years as an office administrator at what is now known as BDO Dunwoody, where she will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humour. After retirement, Ellen and Roy spent several winters together enjoying the sunshine and fishing in Naples, Florida. When this time came to an end, Ellen pursued many other activities including being an active member of the Norwood UCW, and an enthusiastic singer with the “Kitchen Cuties”.
Ellen had a warm welcome for everyone throughout her life. She was a strong role model who was never shy to share her opinions. Ellen’s faith was very much a part of her life, and we are sure she is now in heaven busily organizing all of the angels.
Arrangements have been entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME – NORWOOD CHAPEL. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
