Obituary of Dyanna Frances Gassien
Dyanna Frances Richardson Gassien
Dyanna Gassien passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, at Ross Memorial Hospital. She was born in Luton, Bedfordshire, United Kingdom, to Fanny Edith and Henry “Jim” Richardson. Several members of the Richardson family still reside in the UK, including her brother, Henry Richardson Jr.; her niece, Sarah Burns; and her cousin, Anna Sammons. She also leaves behind a nephew, Richard Fairclough, who resides in Australia.
Dyanna is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Ronald Guy Gassien, as well as her two sons, Ryan and Blair Gassien. She was a supportive and caring mother who gave up a promising nursing career to dedicate herself fully to their upbringing.
In her youth, Dyanna entered the nursing profession, beginning her career at Royal Free Hospital in London, United Kingdom. She later qualified as a midwife at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, London, United Kingdom.
In 1967, she immigrated to Canada with the support of her aunt, Barbara Richardson, and uncle, Don Richardson. Once settled, she worked as a nurse in the Emergency Department at Toronto East General Hospital for over 10 years. Later, she worked for various nursing agencies, including VON Canada. In 2001, Dyanna and her husband retired to Port 32 in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, where they lived until her passing.
Dyanna was known for her independence, quick wit, and dry humor. She demonstrated her leadership by founding a local chapter of the Red Hat Society, later known as the Crown Jewels. She served as the queen of that chapter for over 20 years.
