GILLESPIE: Donna
Passed away peacefully with family by her side, at Case Manor, Bobcaygeon on Thursday, February 5th, 2026. Donna Gillespie (née Windover) of Buckhorn, in her 86th year. Donna was born in Lakehurst, ON, in November of 1940. She married her husband, Roger, in 1960, then moved to Buckhorn, where they lived on their family farm together for many years. Donna and Roger had two wonderful children together, Stephen, born in April of 1962, and Daniel, born in July of 1964. Donna took pride in working as a nurse early on in her life, and then she spent many seasons working at the Burleigh Falls Trading Post. Donna was a very active and highly respected community member in Buckhorn, Young's point, and at the Lakefield Baptist Church. Donna spent a lot of time volunteering at the Good Buy Room in Buckhorn when she wasn't too busy caring for her fish and tending to her many gardens. Donna wore many hats throughout her life, but caring for her family was her most valued role. Beloved and devoted wife of the late Roger Gillespie. Loving mother of the late Stephen Gillespie and the late Daniel Gillespie. Loving Nana to Katie (Jeremy), Alicia (Matt), Cole (Courtney), Calvin (Kristin), Adam, Victoria (Dylan), and Nathan. Dear great grandmother to Hudsyn, Kacey, Liam, Chloe, Bradley, Daisy, Daniel, Clare, Lainey, and Easton. Donna is lovingly remembered by her sister Nancy Gillespie (Ross) and her sister-in-law Gloria Windover (the late Ron Windover), the Bridgens', many nieces and nephews, the congregation at Lakefield Baptist Church, and her dear friend Kathy Ireland.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the Paramedics, Doctors, Nurses and staff at PRHC for their kindness and professionalism to ensuring Donna received the care she needed during the time she spent in hospital. The family would also like to give their greatest appreciation to the caring staff at Case Manor for their accommodation and dedication to Donna and her family. They went above and beyond during her stay, creating a loving environment where Donna felt like she was at home.
Friends and family are called to HENDREN FUNERAL HOME, 66 QUEEN STREET LAKEFIELD, to attend a visitation on Wednesday February 11th from 4:00PM - 7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the LAKEFIELD BAPTIST CHURCH, 36 REGENT STREET LAKEFIELD, on Thursday February 12th, at 11:00AM. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Interment at Sandy Lake Cemetery, Lakehurst.
