Obituary of Veikko Pulkki
PULKKI, Veikko
It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to our father, Veikko Johannes Pulkki, who passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2026.
Veikko was born on May 13th, 1931 in Finland where he grew up and bravely endured WW2 with his family before crossing the ocean to begin his new life. A life that included working in a lumber camp in Northern Ontario, learning a new language and building his trade as a carpenter. He met Maire, his wife of 67 years, and they shared a good life together in Toronto. They worked hard and built their beloved cottage at Buck Lake where they enjoyed fishing, swimming, saunas and socializing with their family and friends.
Veikko was happiest having a cup of coffee and pulla, reading his paper, listening to his radio on the porch at Buck Lake, doing puzzles, watching his golf and car races, always tinkering about with his tools fixing whatever needed to be fixed. He was generous and kind. He loved and was loved by many. His wife Maire, daughters Ella (Warren) and Anni (Mike), grandchildren Peter (deceased), Savannah, Rebecca, Josh, Jessi and Jordan, great grandchildren Brayden, Sienna, Harper, Norah, Nevaeh, Vivian and Isla, Brother Paavo, Sister Eeva, and many extended family members.
Many heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Suomi-Koti Toronto, Cousin Paula and Timo, Cousin Nancy, Pastor Matti, and all the friends and family who visited, cared for, comforted and loved our Dad.
Arrangements have been entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME – LAKEFIELD CHAPEL. A Memorial Service will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society by calling 705-652-3355 or by visiting www.hendrenfuneralhome.com
