Obituary of Pamela Rosemary Warland
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pamela Rosemary Warland (nee Blake) on February 18th 2026, after a sudden illness and a courageous battle which typified Pamela’s spirit.
Born in Lyndhurst England on Nov 16th 1946 to Sydney and Myrtle Blake, Pamela was, in every sense, a product of the pastoral English countryside. Growing up in an incredibly humble cottage in the tiny village of Bartley in the New Forest, Pamela would marry her first husband and move to Canada in 1969 to start building herself an enterprise she valued more than anything else; a family of her own.
After a series of relocations around Northern Ontario, Pamela and her husband and two sons settled in Owen Sound where she is still fondly remembered by so many.
When her own parents entered their Senior years, Pamela moved back to the UK to care for them in their final stages of life. It was then that she met her current loving partner of 30 years, Peter Warland. In 2020, Pamela and Peter decided to once again let familial love take them to Canada to be close to her son Andrew and her beloved daughter-in-law, Marina.
Throughout their years of devoted marriage, Pete took this small-town gal to the furthest reaches of the globe; Australia, China, Eastern Europe, Africa, and most recently to Newfoundland, where she could gaze across the Atlantic at her “other home”. Their love knew no boundaries.
Pamela was welcomed into the community of Bobcaygeon with open arms. She will be forever remembered as “the lovely little English lady who looked after the village flower boxes”, and is dearly missed by her neighbours, SAGES and Probus, the Horticultural Society, her Church family and so many others.
Pamela is survived by her loving husband Peter Warland, her son Andrew Hodson (Marina) and son Gordon Hodson (Holly), her grandson Martin Birrell (Erin) and many heartbroken cousins in England.
A funeral service will take place at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES-MONK CHAPEL, 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon, on Friday March 13th, 2026 at 1:00 PM. With visitation to commence one hour prior. A reception will follow after the service.
