Obituary of Barry Killen

KILLEN, Barry

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Barry Killen who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 2nd two days before his 63rd birthday after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband to Lisa, proud father of Jenna (Dylan), Zach (Sydney) and Paige, cherished Papa of Daisy, William and Ella. He was a loving son of Eugene Killen and the late Frances Killen, and a dear brother to Bonnie Knox (Derri) Sandra Carter (Paul) Robert Killen (Michele) He will also be fondly remembered by his nephews Greg (Caitlin) Mike (Jackie) Andrew, Tanner (Courtney) Conner and Michael.

Barry was a man who found his greatest joy in the simple and beautiful moments of life. Whether he was hiking a trail, or quietly paddling his canoe or capturing the world through his camera lens, he had a deep connection and appreciation of nature and all it had to offer. His photography not only captured what he saw, but how he felt in the moment, always present and full of life.

Barry was known by all for his quick wit and remarkable sense of humor, Barry touched the lives of many. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. May you think of him in the rustle of the leaves on a hike, the stillness of the water, or the quiet beauty of a sunrise or sunset as he so deeply loved.

A mass will be held at ST. Anne’s Church at 859 Barnardo Ave (Peterborough, ON) on Friday April 10th at 11:00 am.
