Obituary of Harry "Bud" White
Harry “Bud” White
It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Harry “Bud” White on April 23, 2026 at the age of 96. He joins his beloved wife, Marlene White (Thurston), predeceased. He will be so greatly missed by his daughters, Lynn Nicholls (Jeff), Nancy White (Glenn-predeceased), Judy White (Andy), his grandchildren Kari (Adam), Stacy (Leon), Ryan (Crystal), Emily (Stephan) and Garett (Areege), and his great-grandchildren Caden, Tayla, Lexon, Meegan, (Brianne, Lauren), his siblings Marlen, Jack, and Ted (predeceased).
Bud was born on August 19, 1929, grew up in Toronto, where he attended Danforth Technical School. He met the love of his life, Marlene, on a blind date and they married shortly thereafter, sharing 68 wonderful years together. They raised a family, traveled the world, and enjoyed time with their many friends and family.
A true entrepreneur, Bud was involved in numerous ventures throughout his life, beginning with his first company shortly after graduating from high school-a printing business run out of a garage in Toronto.
Bud became both a close friend and business partner of Bill Cook early in their careers, forming a successful relationship that would span their lifetimes. One of Bud’s primary companies and passions was Exacta Precision Products where the relationships he built with his employees, suppliers, and colleagues were truly inspiring. He continued to manage Exacta until the age of 80, a testament to his dedication and love he had for the business. Always eager for new challenges, Bud later turned his focus to real estate development, a crowning achievement in his long and accomplished life.
Bud and Marlene spent their early years in Scarborough before moving to Markham. They spent much of their family time, however, at their cottage in Bobcaygeon, where they eventually made their permanent home.
Bud enjoyed fishing, this was his time to relax after a busy day of cottage work. He also loved gardening, starting his own plants indoors in the spring and producing a magnificent garden in the summer. He devoted many pleasant hours tending to his garden, which was truly his happy place.
Bud loved to learn, always curious about how things were made and keen to stay informed about world events. He would regularly turn to Google for answers to the question of the day, with help from Nancy Kimble, a friend and honorary family member, who helped in preserving the independence he so greatly cherished.
Bud truly loved life. Whenever he walked into a room, he lit it up. He was engaging and entertaining, always ready to make a joke, sing a jingle, or tell a story. He always saw the positive side of things. Bud cared about others and this was reflected in just how many people cared deeply about him.
Bud lived a full and meaningful life, marked by kindness, generosity, laughter and precious memories.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff of B3 and Palliative Care for their compassionate care. Their kindness was deeply appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 27th, from 1:00 -4:00 pm at the Shore Spa Community Club, 40 Marina Drive, Port 32, Bobcaygeon.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Condolences and memorial donations can be made by visiting the funeral home website at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com, or by calling 705-738-3222.
