James Foote

Obituary of James Johnstone Foote

FOOTE, James Johnstone “Footie”

It is with deeply sorrowed hearts we announce the passing of James (Jim) Johnstone Foote, also known as Footie by some, on May 1st, 2026.

Jim will be sadly missed by his loving and caring wife Karen Foote (Thompson), his three beautiful daughters Luanne Vandecamp (Tony), Jamie Gillingham (David), Christina Troscinski (Troy), grandchildren Craig, Eric, Stetson, Tyson, Darian, and first great granddaughter Lennon Troscinski as well as all his nephews and nieces. Jim was extremely excited to learn he would be a great-grandpa again in September.

Jim was proud of three important accomplishments in his life:

  1. Three beautiful caring daughters
  2. Working at TRW for a total of 42 years in order to provide a living for his family.
  3. Achieving over 48 ½ years of sobriety, one day at a time through the fellowship of AA, with places like the Jordan Lookout Group. Jim always stated “there is no other AA program like that in the Niagara Region”. After 37 ½ years in the Jordan/ Niagara region he spent 11 years in Kawartha Lakes region.

His wife, children, and grandchildren will especially miss Jim’s wit and sense of humour, which continued to be present even in his last for days. For example, during Jim’s last few days in the hospital, one of the nurses asked “Is there anything I can get you, Jim?” and he replied “Yes please, I really need and want a winning 649 ticket!”

A huge thank-you to all the nurses at the Palliative Care Unit at the Ross Memorial Hospital. Each and every one of them assisted the family emotionally and helped Jim’s journey to be smooth, pain-free and extremely comfortable.
