Obituary of Liz Andrews
ANDREWS: Elizabeth Elaine (Libby)
August 6, 1952 – May 16, 2026
Youngest child of Art and Marg Andrews, Elizabeth grew up on the family farm in Dummer Township and attended school in Norwood. After graduating she made her way to Toronto. Early in her time in Toronto, she was drawn to the world of Canadian Fine Art, working in the newly opened offices of Sotheby Parke Bernett and then as Vice President of Joyner Fine Art. In 1992, she and John Libby married and Liz became an integral part of John A. Libby Fine Art while also studying gemology and opening Andrews Fine Art and Gems. Liz is a Fellow of the Canadian Gemmological Association and Member of the Canadian Professional Appraiser’s Association.
Despite the demands of her busy work life, Liz enjoyed gardening and painting. She found great joy in her miniature schnauzers, Andy and Diesel and in getting away to the cottage near Lion’s Head on the Bruce Penninsula.
Liz is missed and loved by her husband John A. Libby, brothers Doug (John), Terry (Bev), nieces Kim (Mike), Kelley (Joey), nephew Colin (Heather), great niece Mikayla and great nephews Cole (Sarah), Grayson, Gavin and Asher.
Friends are invited to join Liz’s family at the Lakefield Cemetery, 1262 Buckhorn Road, Lakefield, Ontario, on Monday June 15, 2026 at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow in the Heritage Room of THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield. Memorial donations may be made to Farley Foundation or Grey Bruce Health Services, Lion’s Head as expressions of sympathy and may be made by contacting the funeral home at www.hendrenfuneralhome.com or by calling 705-652-3355.
Liz loved art, she made art and, as an art consultant, she helped others to learn about and find beauty in art.
