Obituary of Charles Douglas Sorrie

SORRIE, Charles Douglas     January 8th, 1940 – July 5th, 2026

 

After a courageous battle with cardiac issues, Charlie died at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre on July 5th. He was 86.

 

Actor, athlete, high school teacher, world traveler, nature lover, historian and voracious reader. Charlie was a powerhouse of information who spent hours meeting with his friends for long conversations, sharing thoughts and opinions on politics and news. A Peterborough native, he often spoke of his Scottish heritage.

 

Predeceased by his parents William Sorrie and Mary Batten. He is lovingly remembered by Lynda, his wife of 58 years, son Nicholas (Rachel). Predeceased by daughter Anna. Remembered by his daughter Ingrid, sister in-law Janice (Bill deceased), brothers in-law Keith (deceased Sylvia) and David (Linda). Charlie will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. Charlie was known for his kindness and his constant effort to celebrate the best in people. Many thanks to the exceptional care he received from the Doctors and Nurses of the I.C.U at PRHC.
