Obituary of Keith Rodie Montgomery

MONTGOMERY: Keith Rodie “Monty” It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Keith on Friday March 17, 2017 at Riverview Manor in Peterborough after a lengthy struggle with Parkinson disease. Monty will be remembered by many as one of the most spectacular and colourful hockey players of his time. He began his Junior Hockey career with Lakefield in 1946 and over the ensuing years played with various hockey clubs throughout the area. He was employed as a Heavy Machine Operator for many years with various companies in the area. Loved and missed by his wife Jackie of Lakefield, his children Paul Montgomery (Nadia) of Mexico, John Montgomery (Jane) of Calgary and his step-daughter Judith Hamblin (Jim) of Selwyn. Grandfather of Marissa and Markie. Survived by his brother Dave Montgomery. Predeceased by his parents, brother Morley and step-son Peter. Friends and relatives may call at THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOMES, LAKEFIELD CHAPEL, 66 Queen Street, Lakefield on Wednesday March 22, 2017 from 7- 9 PM. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday March 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation. A reception will follow at the R.C.L. Branch #77 Lakefield. Memorial donations may be made to Parkinson Canada as expressions of sympathy.
