Obituary of James Stringham

Passed away peacefully, and with great dignity, on June 1, 2012 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Jim Stringham, beloved husband of June (Shirton) for 53 years. Cherished father of Gayle (Stan) Zukowski and Kent (Janice) Stringham, all of Lakefield. Big brother to Jeff (Suelyn) Stringham of London, Ontario and brother-in-law to Wayne (Carolyn) Shirton of Edmonton, Alberta. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Jane, Jeffrey, Kate and Michael. Born in Woodstock, Ontario in 1937, Jim spent his youth in Smithville, Ontario where he and June met in grade school.  He graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1959. Jim Began a very successful 24 year career with Ralston Purina Canada Inc. in 1961, taking on progressively more responsible positions, moving several times throughout Ontario and the United States. He retired in 1985 at the age of 48, as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Ralston Purina Canada Inc. In retirement, Jim and June moved from Brampton, Ontario to Country Club Heights near Bobcaygeon where they made and enjoyed many wonderful friends for over 20 years.  His retirement years were filled with golf, curling, boating, snowmobiling and model trains. Family and friends will be received at Monk Funeral Home, 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon (705-738-3222 or 866-393-0063) on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 12:30 until service time in the chapel at 2 p.m.  Interment Verulam Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Fenelon Falls United Church, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
