Obituary of Harton Douglas Amos

Harton Douglas Amos of Westport, Connecticut passed away unexpectedly at  Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the age of 68 while visiting his summer residence in Bobcaygeon, Ontario. Born in Toronto, Ontario on December 26, 1943, he was employed by General Re Insurance for 31 years in Toronto, Montréal, New York and Stamford, Connecticut. Beloved husband of Linda Amos for 43 years.Father of Stephen (Carina) Amos of Fairfield, Connecticut. Brother of John (Nancy) Amos of Hemmingford, Québec; Rosemary Hall of Bobcaygeon, Ontario; Charles (Ann) Amos of Thunder Bay, Ontario;  Christopher (Jennifer) Amos of Ottawa, Ontario and the late David Amos. Brother-in-law of the late Don Hall. Uncle of Christopher, Robin, Cheryl, Jason, Laura, Bobby, Christopher, Courtney, Bethany and the late Mark. He was raised in Montréal and Toronto and was a proud Canadian all his life. Harton (“Doug”) will be missed by his large circle of friends and golf buddies everywhere. He was a lifelong student and teacher of golf. “He lived the game.” Family and friends will be received at Monk Funeral Services Ltd., 6 Helen Street, Bobcaygeon (705-738-3222 or 866-393-0063) on Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 1:30.
