Bob Gordon

Obituary of Bob Gordon

GORDON, Robert E.

Robert “Bob” Gordon passed away peacefully at the P.R.H.C. with family at his side on July 31, 2023. Bob was a loving husband, brother, father, father-in-law, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as a fierce and loyal friend, colleague, and neighbour.

A landmark of 36 Highway, Bob would often be seen tinkering outside the garage, tending to his many gardens, blazing a trail for his dogs on the four-wheeler, or perched on the porch with his wife, Marie. Bob carried on the torch passed from Gordon’s before him of making the Farm a welcoming home, a hot meal, a cold beer, and a belly of laughs for family, friends, cottagers, and strangers alike.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman. Whether hunting, fishing, or taking an evening drive to see a family of deer, Bob’s love for nature never waned.

Bob loved sports – especially hockey – and embodied the nickname “Flash Gordon” given to him by his Ennismore Eagles teammates for over 30 years. Bob worked most of his career at Domtar paper company, and was a devoted member of the union, serving as the union president for over a decade.

We will miss Bob’s boyish playfulness, mischievous grin, and incredible gift to make us all laugh.

Bob was the beloved husband of Marie (nee Simpson) for 63 years, and father to Robert, David (Laurie), and Stephen (Nancy). He is fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Jessica (Augusto), Jenna, Jodie (d.1992), Emma (Ryan), and Noah. Bob was the proud great-grandfather to Audrey, Charlotte, and Maisey. Bob is survived by his sisters Barbara Roberts (late Ken), Shirley Eby (late Peter), and June Collins (Ron) and predeceased by his siblings Norma MacPhail (late George), Art Gordon (Shirley), Jack Gordon (late Jeanette) and Mac Gordon (Mildred). Bob is also lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
