Obituary of Richard James Lindsay Thompson

Thompson: Richard J. “Rick” 

 

In his 81st year- Passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 4, 2023, with Bev- his loving wife of 42 years by his side. 

 

First born to Art & Gert Thompson. Born in Toronto, Ontario. Raised in Ajax/Pickering area. 

Rick was a big brother to 7 siblings- Survived by his sisters Ruth, Eleanor (Chuck), and Carolyn (Garth). As well as his sister Shirley’s husband Mike. Predeceased by his siblings Ruby (Roy), Shirley, Jack, and Infant Brother David. 

 

Forever missed by his children David, Bryan (Zorina), Dawn (Dino); Kelley & the late Karyn. Grandchildren Brad, Eden, Naia, Lio, Brandyn, Patrick, and Jayden. His many Nieces and nephews- As well as many friends Rick made throughout his life spanning as far back as his teenage years. 

 

Rick was a truck driver for 50 years; Over half his life he was dedicated to his career. Starting his days at 2am, he would pick-up and deliver wood shavings for chicken and horse farms out of Combermere, or water softener salt to Culligan’s and Canadian Salt. As well as transporting salt to Weston Bakery. He drove many a mile from Goderich on a daily basis. He loved what he did, but he loved his Peterbilt the most. 

 

Ricks favourite colour was blue. Those who wish to celebrate his memory and wear his favourite colour are invited to do so at his celebration of life. 

 

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at Low & Low Funeral Home, Port Perry Chapel, 1763 Reach Street, Port Perry on Saturday November 4, 2023 at 11:00am – 2:00 pm.
