Nora Roberts

Obituary of Nora Agnes Roberts

Roberts, Nora Agnes (nee Jenns)

Nora passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on October 7 th , 2023. Nora was born June 11 th , 1924, the eldest of 6 children to Wilfred ‘Toot Toot’ Jenns and Margaret ‘Nanny’ (Hann) at 50 Eaton Avenue in Toronto. She was the beloved wife of the late Harold Roberts. Predeceased by siblings Margaret ‘Peggy’ Farquhar (Bob), Wilfred Jenns (Marilyn), Gerald Jenns (Bessie), Catherine ‘Nancy’ Routley (Don) and survived by sister Mary 'Corrine' Mills (Bill) and sister-in-law Marilyn Jenns.

Nora mourned the death of her beloved daughter Bonnie Sugden. She was a loving mother to Barbara Griffiths (Rodger) and Beverley Turner (Paul Scott). She was loved by her grandchildren; Kimberley Pineau (Jason), Shawn Sugden (Lauren Henry-Sugden), Brianne Outram (Jeffrey), Garth Griffiths, Kyle Turner (Jodi Coughlin), Cameron Turner (Meagan) and by her great grandchildren; Abigail and Maren Pineau, Margot and Flynn Henry-Sugden, Grace, Lucia and Henry Outram, Ayden and Anderson Turner, Cruz Boshaw and Berkeley Turner. She is survived by many nieces and nephews whom she cherished.

Nora was a very gifted artist and celebrated her love of nature and family through her paintings. She loved painting winter scenes despite ‘absolutely hating winter’. Nora’s work was displayed in many art shows and galleries. Come spring, she couldn’t wait to get to her cottage on the Lake of Bays in Muskoka where she would entertain family and friends. She started working at IBM but spent most of her career at Consumers’ Gas. Her infectious and outgoing personality attracted a wealth of friends. She cherished those friendships with deep and enduring affection. Nora was adored by her children’s friends, and she loved them even though she couldn’t always remember their names. Never one to be left speechless, she was always quick to make a joke or some outrageous comment to shock her audience! She enjoyed travel and was always up for new adventures. Nora was a force of nature, had a zest for life, and will be sorely
missed.

Our family would like to thank everyone who supported and cared for Nora.
