It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Eleanor Staples. A cherished wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. With a dry sense of humor, she brought joy to those around her, even in her serious moments. Eleanor was an avid reader and a puzzle enthusiast. She found solace and competition on the curling rink and the golf course. She was the beloved wife of Jethro Staples and the late Murray Kennedy. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, Mervyn and Helen Horsley. She will be remembered with love as the mother of David Kennedy and Meredith (Lucy) Kennedy and their family Abi (Josh), Laura (Kirk), Wallace. Along with being a stepmother to Rick (Colleen) Staples, Dave (Michelle) Staples, and Julie (Jeff MacKay). Eleanor’s memory will forever be cherished by her siblings Greg (Doris) Horsley and Leslie (Barry Stevenson). She was predeceased by her brother Jeffrey Horsley. As a grandmother, Eleanor delighted in the joys of watching her grandchildren grow. Adelle (Elliott), Phil, Joe (Jamie), Kyle (Bobbie), Corey, Camden and Tyler. Her great-grandchildren Jaelyn, Walker, and Tate brought her immeasurable joy. Eleanor is survived by her sister-in-law Joy (Ian) Lauchlan and Marlene (late Jeffrey) Kennedy. Eleanor proved throughout her life that family didn’t have to be blood related. She will be fondly remembered by Bill (Lois) Grant. Eleanor was a long-time English teacher with the Victoria County Board of Education, and she touched countless lives with her passion for literature and commitment to education. Her unwavering enthusiasm for learning was an inspiration to all who knew her.
