Obituary of Judith Ann Chaplin

CHAPLIN, JUDITH ANN   (nee Shoup)

It is with profound sadness to announce the sudden passing of Judy on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the age of 75. Judy leaves behind her husband of 35 years, Ronald James Chaplin, who loved her more than life itself. They did almost everything together from the time they first met in 1988. She is survived by her children, Tracy Cossins (Bill), Jody Wakefield and Clayton Jon (CJ) Bartel (Cole) and stepson Christopher Chaplin (Laura), her grandchildren, Joseph, Sarah and Jake Cossins, Richard Blinov “Sonny” and step-grandchildren Haley, Josh, Jessica, Chris and Shawn. Judy will also be missed by her siblings Carol Johnson (Ron), Brian Shoup and Vicky Shoup. Judy is predeceased by her parents George and Marjorie Shoup (Rusaw) and her brothers Garry and Warren. Also missed by her brothers and sister-in-law Hugh and Marlene Chaplin, Shirley (Lloyd-d) and Bill (Sandy - d).

Judy was a genuinely wonderful woman. She was one of the best multitaskers delving into everything she did with passion. Her interests were varied from being an amazing historian knowing more about Norwood and its surrounding villages than anyone else we know of and genealogist doing family trees for not only her own family but numerous other families as well. She was an excellent knitter/crocheter who most recently donated numerous blankets to the Women’s Shelter along with hats and mitts to other charitable causes. She was a great card player as her bi-monthly girlfriends will attest to. Judy was one of the best Scrabble players and her love of putting puzzles (sometimes into the 1000’s of pieces) together with Ron was also a joy for her. Her other love was creating old World Santa’s and various Christmas decorations. Her home was always decked out with Christmas “Being everywhere”, as it is right now. Judy was a collector of many things and her home is like walking into a museum of antiques and photos from days gone by. Everything in there has a story behind it, or three. Judy spent a lot of time with the Historical Society and helped to create the same for others to enjoy for future generations. Judy had a lot of special friends and will be missed greatly by them all.

Special thanks to the Paramedics and the OPP for their kind assistance and compassion in their efforts.
