Gordon Richter

Obituary of Gordon Edward Richter

Gord passed peacefully at Case Manor Care Community in Bobcaygeon where he had spent the past two years after challenges from a stroke. Gord leaves his stepson's Timothy Baxter and James Baxter and their families to join his late wife Mary Ann Baxter (d. 2007). Gord is predeceased by his parents, Donald Richard Richter, and Dorothy Milicent Richter; and brothers, Don Richter, Doug Richter, and Bob Richter; and leaves his Sister-in-law, Jane Richter and several nieces and nephews.
Gord was born in Brantford and moved to Peterborough where he worked various jobs including a stint with the Peterborough Panthers Football Club that fanned his interest in sports and a later passion for the Toronto Blue Jays. He was fascinated by the animal kingdom and gave his time by volunteering at the Riverview Zoo in Peterborough and prided himself on being on a "first name basis" with every animal. His other interests included Canadian history, particularly military history, and trivia. We have fond memories of playing Trivial Pursuit together, Gord being the only one to favour the yellow (history) "pie" questions.
Gord's final resting place will be with Mary Ann in Orono Ontario. In accordance with his wishes, he will be interred in the Spring with immediate family in attendance with no public memorial service. Donations in Gord's memory may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
