Obituary of Steven John Smillie

Dear Dad,

It's with heavy hearts that we write to you today. On March 7, 2024, we said goodbye to a remarkable man whose love, dedication, and craftsmanship touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

You were more than just a Dad to us; you were our rock, our inspiration, and our guiding light. Your unwavering love and support shaped us into the people we are today, and we are eternally grateful for every moment we shared together.

You had an unparalleled ability to get things done, Dad. If you set your mind to something, you were all-in, giving it your all until it was done to perfection. Your commitment to excellence was evident in everything you did, and your motto, "Measure twice, cut once," serves as a testament to your meticulous attention to detail.

From the early morning fishing trips to the thrill of hunting big Muskie, you showed us the beauty of nature and the joy of simple pleasures. Your passion for woodworking was unmatched, and the pieces you crafted with such care and precision will forever be cherished.

Christmas will never be the same without you. Your enthusiasm for the holiday season was contagious, and the memories will always bring warmth to our hearts.

As we prepare to celebrate your life and honor your memory, we find comfort in the thought that you are at peace. We promise to look after Mom, your loving wife, and to keep your memory alive for generations to come. Your grandchildren will know your stories, and the traits you instilled in us will be passed forward to them.

Dad, as you wished, we'll arrange for your cremation and plan a celebration of life in the near future. We will announce the details, and friends and family will come together to honor your memory and celebrate the wonderful life you lived.

Mom wants you to never forget that you were not only her husband but also her co-adventurer in life, and she is grateful for the journey you traveled together. She prays that you will continue to protect and guide her until you are reunited again.

Rest easy, Dad. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

With all our love,

Chris & Christina, Matt & Zoe, Ashley & Jake.
