We were both shocked and saddened by Norm's sudden death. As cottagers on Chandos we have known him for over 12 years. He always appeared happy and content with his life, his home, his dog and his friends on the lake. I din't know Norm that well but several months ago I heard that that he was very well read (his favorites being science fiction novels) I some times contemplated Norm's life on the lake.It seemed to me that he had chosen to make his life simple, surrounded by nature, living his life on his own terms. Perhaps he could teach us all a lesson about slowing down a little, living simply and about honouring one's own choices to retreat into a simpler, quieter and gentler existence..

We are saddened to hear the news of Norm's passing. Norm always welcomed us at the docks of Gilmour Bay Marina, and freely offered advice on fishing and boating, while tending to our boat. He also rescued us a few times when our boat wouldn't start! He clearly loved the outdoors and the lake. We'll remember Norm as a friendly, helpful, caring person. Sincerely, Bela and Cynthia

Norm you will be missed on Chandos Lake. For twenty plus years now, we have had the pleasure of seeing you around the lake. During the time you helped build our cottage, we got to know you a much better. We will miss waving to you on our early morning runs while you were having your morning coffee & looking out at the lake. Earlier this summer, with my fourteen-year-old nephew, we were over buying fishing tackle. You had the patience, expertise and guidance to help us out. We left to find the

My family and I have known Norm through his association with the Gilmour Bay Marina for over 15 years. Norm was a kind, gentle man who was always willing to help my children out with their boat questions and he was always reminding them of safety issues, did they have enough life jackets, had they checked the oil in the boat etc. His advice and his welcome were always appreciated. With deepest regret we send our condolences.

We met Norm when we first bought our cottage on Chandos Lake a year and a half ago and since then we had become good friends with him. George and Norm went on some fishing trips together and had some good times. Norm was such a wonderful, kind, caring and helpful man. Norm will be sadly missed by our family. Gilmour Marina will not be the same without Norm. Our condolences to Norm's family.

Since getting our cottage on Chandos Lake 2 years ago, Norm has always been a warm and welcoming face at Gilmours Bay Marina. His boating expertise has saved us many times. He replaced our prop 3 times our first summer. Although, he informed us we broke the Chandos Lake record, he never laughed at us but with us. We will miss him. Sincerely, Sandy, Peter, TAylor and Colton

Dear Berniece, We are so sorry to hear about the sudden passing of Norm. I have lots of funny memories of him from the time he lived with us and helped Dad in the greenhouses. I learned a lot about wildlife since Norm was always such a nature lover. The one and only time I ever tasted wild duck was when Norm shot one with his bow and gave us kids a taste. I'm sorry we won't be able to be there on Tuesday but you will be in our thoughts. Love Stephanie
