Obituary of Dorothy Margaret THOMPSON

THOMPSON: Dorothy Margaret 92 years young, died peacefully at her home in Lakefield on Sunday March 18, 2007. Dorothy was born in Gravenhurst and lived for many years in Toronto before moving with her husband, Odell to Bancroft to run the Ban-Mar shoe store and adjoining laundrymat. While in Bancroft, they were involved in the Bancroft Museum and the Bancroft Gemboree. Odell and Dorothy retired to Lakefield and in 1987 designed and built their house in the Winfield Shores on Lake Katchewanooka. While in Lakefield, Dorothy was active in fundraising for the Lakefield Trail by organizing annual garage sales and writing a cookbook. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Odell in 2001. Dorothy will be greatly missed by her sister Mildred Mossop of Kirkland Lake, sister-in-law Jacqueline (Ken) Marsden, brother-in-law Gailen (Helen) Thompson, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Predeceased by her sisters Lorraine Wheeler (nee Anderson) of Burlington, Irene Anderson of Toronto and Madelaine Brock of Edmonton. A Memorial gathering and reception to celebrate Dorothy's life will be held on Sunday April 15, 2007 from 2-4 PM at the HENDREN FUNERAL HOME, Lakefield. Memorial donations may be made to the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society (L.A.W.S.) as expressions of sympathy.
