Enid and I send our deepest condolences regarding the passing of this positively extraordinary woman. I shall truly miss Mrs.Young's appearance and demeanor, sitting boldly upright in the Young home or in her room at the wonderful Extendicare residence, her deep voice positively crackling with both articulateness and humour, in the warm and benignly authoritarian matriarchal manner that she conveyed. Always a witty remark or perceptive challenging question on her lips, and always happier talking about a subject outside of herself, like asking how you yourself were. Such grace and charm are rare, and Gladys Young, ever young still at 96, was indeed one of those rare ones every family cherishes and hopes to have. May she rest in peace.

I had known Gladys long before I became part of the Collison clan. When my family emigrated from England in 1949 and began attending church in Weston, it was Mrs.Young who befriended my parents and made us feel welcomed. My mother said she could not imagine anyone else being brave enough to invite a family of six to their home for Sunday dinner. We will all miss Aunt Gladys.

Russell and I send our deepest condolences to Bob and Ann during this difficult time. Your devotion and commitment to your mother were inspirational. The staff at Extendicare in Lakefield should be highly commended for their dedication and loving care of Mrs. Young. She was quite a woman. Lots and lots of love from us both.

To the Young's & Mathews: I'm thinking & praying for you at this time in the loss of your Mom & Grandma. I'm thankful for the privilege of having known Granny. To me she was always the same person every time I met her...steadfast, immovable positive. May the words of Psalm 116:15 bring comfort to each of you at this time. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

Bob and Ann, please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. I do believe that we have hanging in our dining room a painting by Aunt Gladys. Even more of a treasure now. I am certain that many were waiting to greet her, including my mom. She always enjoyed her chats with Aunt Gladys. With love, Dana, Paul and Tessa
