Obituary of Janet DUDAS

DUDAS, Janet Catharine ""Jane"" Jane passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 62 on Tuesday June 17, 2008 from breast cancer. Jane lived and loved passionately. She had an unforgettable impact in the lives of those she touched: her parents Peter and Mary Lesoway of Welland, her husband Frank of 42 years; her son Jake; her daughter Sarah; her sister Pat; her cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and hundreds of friends in between. To Jane, family was everything. Jane was a truly exceptional woman who believed in helping those around her. She gave relentlessly and unconditionally of herself in so many ways. She worked as a primary school teacher. She anchored a family. She gave countless hours to local charities - serving as Chair and Governor Emeritus of PRHC; Founding Chair of the Leadership Program for United Way; Founding Chair of the Festival of Trees; Founding Member of the Lakefield Community Medical Support Foundation and many more. Her work in the local community spanned over 30 years and made a difference to thousands of people. As much as she was passionate about helping others, she was equally passionate about having fun. She loved golfing with Frank and their friends at the lake. She loved to travel. She loved to read. She loved Christmas. She loved to laugh. She will be sorely missed. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday June 22 at Hendren Funeral Home, 66 Queen St. in Lakefield. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday June 23 at Wenjack Theatre, Trent University, with a reception to follow. Foundation, Lakefield Primary Healthcare Campaign, Trent Univeristy - Jane Dudas Memorial Fund or the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
