Obituary of Mary Knox

On May 11, 1920, MARY HELEN SARAH ROBSON was born in Peterborough, Ontario, daughter of the late IRA ROBSON & HELEN WHITE. She was raised on the Robson Family farm outside Peterborough. In her early years, Mary trained at the Nichols Hospital in Peterborough and became a Registered Nurse, eventually teaching nursing as well. 58 years ago, Mary married JOHN KNOX at Knox Presbyterian Church in Peterborough and together they lived on their farm. Mary worked very hard on the farm, doing all of the chores that were needed, as John also operated his own heating and plumbing business. They built a house and moved to Norwood in 1963, selling their farm to John and Colleen Terpstra. John passed away in 1984 and two years ago Mary moved into Maple View Retirement Centre in Norwood. Mary was a courageous, determined and hard-working woman. Although she held very strong convictions, she was one of the most loving people to all who knew her. She had a tender way about her and would never fail to help those in need. She would assist people as they were driven in ambulance and she would bake tea biscuits for those who were sick. Perhaps Mary""?s favourite love next to her grandchildren would be her love of music. She played the organ and piano and also sang. She often played at various places around the community including the local nursing homes. Mary""?s Melody Men was also well known as they traveled around the area singing to all. On December 10, 2008, Mary passed away peacefully at the Campbellford Memorial Hospital. She will be remembered as a loving and kindhearted woman. Loved and missed by her daughter MARY JANE KAUFMAN (KNOX) and her husband DENNIS. Grams is remembered by BRIAN JOHN (ASHLEE) & ANGELA MARY (JAMIE). Predeceased by her husband JOHN and brother WILLIAM ROBSON (LAURA).
